The Ulfberht sword was one of the most refined swords of the Middle Ages. Its quality was recognised all over Europe—so much so that forgeries appeared on the market.
Some of these swords, made from the purest steel of the time, were found at the bottom of rivers in surprisingly good condition.
The Ulfberht sword mark was equivalent to what would be the Ferrari of swords in the High Middle Ages. The name of the legendary workshop was engraved on each sword that came from the Ulfberht forge.
