In the runic Futhark script, the Tiwaz rune is associated with the god of war and justice, Tyr. He is the bravest among the Viking gods. It was Tyr who dared to put his hand in the mouth of the wolf Fenrir to convince him to allow himself to be chained by a magical loop, as proof of his strength.
The gods deceived Fenrir, and the wolf tore off Tyr's hand. Since then, Tyr is also known as the one-handed god.
